About the musician

The musician started to learn music at the age of 6. He learnt violin and mandolin lessons from one of the best music professor. Orhan started playing the baglama it was a traditional musical instrument which was used in Turkish country. He created his first song creation at the age of 10. He learnt to play the tanbur music its an instrument which can be used Turkish classical music to improve himself in the music. Then he started to learn jazz kind of songs and rock music and played saxophone music. He got the selection in to Turkish music school in Istanbul. In the military brass band he played the saxophone music in the band. In his school days he used to perform the classical and traditional Turkish Folk Music. He taught music lessons in his own music courses and developed the community music centers in Istanbul and Samsun. He did the programs in Turkish Radio and Television Corporation exams.

Orhan performed the grade music in National Baglama Contest with Arif Sag and Cinucen Tanrikorur and also with modern kind of Turkish music in 1966. In the year of 1968, the musician released his first song "Sensiz Bahar Gecmiyor/Basa Gelen Cekilirmis". The song also rewarded for some time. He released most of the music singles that is a mixture of traditional Turkish Folk music songs , Turkish classical music songs, Western classical music, jazz, rock, country, progressive, psychedelic, Indian, Arabic, Spanish, and Greek music songs in the year of 1966. He started the Kervan Record Company music label which became very successful company in that country. He attracted the talented musicians and song composing such as Erkin Koray, Ajda Pekkan, Muazzez Abaci, Mustafa Sagyasar, Ahmet Ozhan, Kamuran Akkor, Semiha Yanki, Samime Sanay. In Kervan Record Company the musician gave three best music albums. They are in 1974 Orhan Gencebay and in 1975 Batsin Bu Dunya. In 1976 he gave best song to that company Sarhosun Biri , in 1978 the musician delivered the music album Benim Dertlerum.

The musician had performed many roles in 36 movies more over in his career. He also been a song composer in 90 movies. He released nearly 35 music singles in his own music albums and also 15 music albums and lot of MC's. His music albums sold out over 60 million copies in the nationwide. He was a song composer, film musician and also the person who got interested in learning the musical cultures. Orhan Gencebay was one of the major model of Turkish music in the 20th century. Gencebay was appeared in the film “Crossing the Bridge” in 2005 it was the film of The Sound of Istanbul by German Turkish director Fatih Akın. Then the film's soundtrack with the song "Hatasiz Kul Olmaz” was most amazing video in that film.
