The music player started his career in his early age and also he won some part time harmonica contests. He was working in U.S Navy at the time of World War II as a radioman and was studying electrical engineering at Princeton University later he decided to gather musical talents. In 1952 he wrote a song in his first disc "The Wild Side of Life" song, which contained the energetic line "I didn't know God made honky-tonk angels" this line from the song was inspired by the songwriter J.D. Miller then he wrote the answer song, "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels". This song hits the first hit music single song for important female country vocalist Kitty Wells. The lyrics of this song go throw deepen into your heart and make you remember forever with its lyrics on the lips. Then he gave the some other hit songs with the follow of the songs in the 1950s and 1960s. Hank started singing in his own honky-tonk style which is same as Ernest Tubb but he got interested to gain engagements in the dancehalls of the southwest so reimagined his own music band that is the Brazos Valley Boys.

Hank signed with the Capitol records and he recorded the songs from 1947 to 1965. Later he joined with Warner Bros. Records. From 1968 to 1980 he signed and recorded for Dot Records label and also with its followers ABC Dot and MCA Records. The music album “Seven Decades” was released by him in 2000 on the Hightone music label. The musician was elected as the Country Music Hall of Fame in the year of 1989 and also he was nominated for the Nasville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1997. He mostly would not committed to touring because before that itself he became ill. He used to work with the version of Brazos Valley Boys music troop. The songs which gave hit to him was “A Six Pack To Go”, “Country Blues”, “Where Is The Circus”. This song was released world wide and sold more copies all over the world

The music player decided to retire from singing so he canceled his remaining tours “Sunset Tour” on November 1, 2007. When he analysed with the Texas hospital it was found that he seriously inducted with lung cancer. Thompson did his last music perormance was held on october 8th 2007 in Waco which is his birthplace in Texas. After a month he was died from the lung cancer. The persenter Tracy Pitcox who is a president of Heart of Texas song Records narrated that Thompson requested that no funeral to be held. The musical legend Bill says that “The World’s Largest Honky Tonk” about the thompson on the “Celebration of life” on November 14th it was opened to both fans and friend which took place at Billy Bob's Texas, a Fort Worth, Texas country & western nightclub.
