This music album gave them great hit and more than 1 million copies were sold out. The music band Dire Straits re-released the single song named as "Sultans of Swing" became no.1 in U.K. chart as well as peaked the top 10 and then became very popular in live song throughout the music band's career. The first music album eventually went top 10 in every European countries. In 1979 the music band released the second music album song called as Communique.This song reached number one place in the German music album charts with Dire Straits simultaneously at number three.

In 1980, Dire Straits music album released its third music album song named as “Making Movies”. The most successful single song from the music album was "Romeo and Juliet" with the music album's opening track "Tunnel Of Love". Keyboardist Alan Clark and California guitarist Hal Lindes joined the lineup for the fourth song “Love Over Gold” which was well received on its release during 1982 and reached no.1 in the United Kingdom. After the release of ‘Love Over Gold” song drummer “Pick Withers” left the music band for a jazz song career. His replacement was made with Terry Williams, formerly of Rockpile. In 1983 for the four-songs the Extended Play was released featuring the hit single song"Twisting By the Pool." This was followed in 1984 by the double live music album, Alchemy.

The music band’s Dire Straits released a last album “Live at the BBC” before their suspention. The music album Live at the BBC, was a collected work.
