Shakira who is a two-time Grammy Award-winning and seven-time Latin Grammy Award-winning artist, is the highest-selling Colombian singer of all time, and have a record of selling more than 60 million albums worldwide according to the United World Chart. She is also the only artist from South America to reach the number-one spot on the Billboard Hot 100, the Australian ARIA chart, the United World Chart and the UK Singles Chart Collaborations

Late last year, Shakira and Alejandro Sanz worked together in the Latin duet "Te lo Agradezco, Pero No", which is featured on Sanz' music album ‘El Tren de los Momentos’. The song was a top ten hit in Latin America, and topped Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart. List of such collaborations run high for Shakira. Earlier this year, Shakira worked with American R&B singer Beyoncé Knowles in the track called "Beautiful Liar". The lyrics of the song was written by Beyoncé, Amanda Ghost, Ian Dench, and Stargate members Mikkel S. Eriksen and Tor Erik Hermansen and was produced by production team Stargate and Beyoncé and it was mixed by Gustavo Celis. ‘Beautiful Liar’ is the first song and the first single released from the deluxe edition of Beyoncé's second music album ‘B'Day’, making it the fifth song released from ‘B'Day’. It also has earned the distinction of having the largest upward movement on the Billboard Hot 100, moving ninety-one positions from number ninety-four to number three the week of April 7, 2007. The song won an MTV Video Music Award in 2007 for the newly-added category of Most Earth-Shattering Collaboration, and the Spanish version of the song was nominated for the 8th Annual Latin Grammy Award in 2007 for Record of the Year but lost to Juan Luis Guerra's La Llave de mi Corazón.

For years, Beyoncé and Shakira have met each other at awards concerts and talked about the same thing: collaboration. "We always say how much we respect each other and we want to do a song together, and after a couple of years it finally happened," Beyoncé explained. "She's been on concert tours and it's been difficult, but we did it 'cause we're both fans of each other and respect each other's work."
Beyoncé and Shakira's this musical collaboration is called "Beautiful Liar" and is to be featured on Beyoncé B'Day - Deluxe Edition, a double-disc set released on April 3. The first CD also includes the original album plus two other previously unreleased songs, "If" and "Flaws & All" while the second disc boasts of six Spanish-language tracks
The music video was the seventh video Beyoncé had shot over last two weeks, as April 3 also saw the release of "Beyoncé B'Day Anthology Video Album" exclusively at Wal-Mart stores. On the Billboard Pop 100 chart the song also jumped seventy-four places, from number seventy-seven to number three. "Beautiful Liar" also became one of very few songs that scored a debut position at number one on both the Hot Digital Tracks and Hot Digital Songs charts.
